Three juvenile teen overdose, 3 adults charged

Blue Earth County Sheriff:

On 01/31/2023 the Mankato Department of Public Safety responded to 3 separate locations and calls for service that involved juveniles as the patient(s). All victims were reported to have used/been exposed to a substance that caused the patients to exhibit signs consistent with an opioid overdose.

It is believed that the substance used was counterfeit/fake Oxycodone M30 pills that contained fentanyl. Counterfeit pills that contain fentanyl can be life-threatening. A lethal dose of fentanyl is about two milligrams which is equivalent to the size of a few grains of salt.

Narcan was administered and two of the patients were hospitalized. Their condition is unknown at this time.

These incidents remain under investigation by the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force and the Mankato Department of Public Safety.

Two of the three juvenile victims were released from the hospital leaving one in critical condition at this time.

31-year-old Patrick Orerigho Isiakpere Jr., 26-year-old Damarcus Deontay Holloway, and 35-year-old Tia Renee Schwichtenberg, all from the Mankato area, were arrested in connection to the three juvenile teen overdoses.

Isiakpere who has similar charges of firearms possession and sale of a controlled substance stemming from a prior investigation conducted by MRVDTF was recently released on 12/06/2022. Holloway was also just released from jail on 01/23/2023 and has prior convictions for ineligible persons in possession of a firearm and controlled substance charges.

On 01/31/2023, Agents with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force developed leads into the source(s) responsible for the distribution/sales of the controlled substance that caused three juvenile teens to overdose earlier in the day.

At approximately 1710 hours agents located the suspects exiting a residence that agents knew one of the suspects frequented in the city of Mankato. One suspect was seen leaving the residence carrying a camouflage backpack and going between two vehicles associated with the suspect(s), while the other went to one of the vehicles and was seated in the passenger’s front seat.

During the execution of a subsequent search warrant agents located 377 M30 Pills, 2 firearms, cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.

Request for criminal charges includes but are not limited to the following:
• 2nd-degree-controlled substance sales
• 3rd-degree-controlled substance possession
• Felon in possession of a firearm
• Ineligible person in possession of a firearm
• Great bodily harm caused by the distribution of drugs

MRVDTF agents were assisted by Special Agents from the MN BCA, Officers with the Mankato Department of Public Safety, and Blue Earth County Deputies.

Schwichtenberg is already out on bond.
Count 1: 2nd-degree sales 10 grams or more narcotics [Felony]
Count 2: 3rd-degree possession 10 grams or more of a narcotic [Felony]

Count 3: 5th-degree possession sched: 1,2,3,4 NOT small amount marijuana [Felony]

Count 4: Endanger Child – permit sales/possession narcs. [Gross Misdemeanor]

Previous charges are speeding and expired tags

Halloway previous charges and convictions include 3 convicted felony charges and 18 misdemeanors

 

Isiakpere has 26 prior convictions, including 9 felonies.
