UPDATED: Ralph Leslie Apmann failed to show for his trial

A Cottonwood County jury returned a verdict of guilty against Ralph Apmann on the single count of second-degree unintentional murder during a felony assault in the 26 August 2021 death of Juan Morales Rivera 40, of Worthington. Apmann was convicted at the conclusion of a week-long trial.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the Windom Police Department are attempting to locate Ralph Leslie Apmann, 58, who posted bail after being charged with second-degree murder in connection to a fight at the Phat Pheasant Pub, where Apmann choked Juan Rivera to death.

Apmann may be armed with a 9 mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle, and it’s believed that he came to the Twin Cities metro area.

Defense Attorney Philip Elbert last spoke with Apmann on 12 February at about 6 p.m. He had stopped by Apmann’s house to have him sign some papers. Apmann was suppose to testify in court on 13 February, and he never showed up. The case was still heard in a trial.
