Victims: Melanie Michele Jansen, 54, also of Maple Grove, Jansen’s daughter Hannah Nicole Parmenter, 29, of Elk River. The shooter: Michael Charles Toner, 59. The Maple Grove man shot and killed Melanie who he was in a relationship with and her daughter before taking his own life at a resort home in Breezy Point.

Press Release On 09/05/2023 at approximately 8:48 p.m., the Breezy Point Police Department responded to a call for assistance in the 8400 block of Whitebirch Drive, in the City of Breezy Point. Subsequently, three people were found deceased.
Based on the preliminary investigation, there is no indication of any ongoing threat to the public. The names of the deceased are not being released pending identification and notification of next of kin.
This remains an active investigation. The Breezy Point Police Department is being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office. Officers from the Nisswa Police Department, the Crosslake Police Department, and the Pequot Lakes Police
