Terrence ‘Terry’ Brisk was shot and killed on 7 November 2016 with his own rifle while hunting in Belle Prairie Township, Morrison County, Mn.

For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota

MN-DOJ

Brooklyn Park Felon Indicted for Fentanyl Distribution and Firearms Violations Following Deadly Vehicle Crash

MINNEAPOLIS – Derrick John Thompson has been federally indicted for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and illegal possession of a firearm following a deadly vehicle crash that killed five victims, announced U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.

“These federal charges underscore the seriousness of Mr. Thompson’s criminal actions. We will continue to take an aggressive stance against individuals who engage in armed fentanyl dealing and present grave danger to our community,” said U. S. Attorney Andrew Luger.

According to court documents, on June 16, 2023, a trooper with the Minnesota State Patrol observed a black Cadillac SUV speeding north on I-35W, traveling at 95 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour speed zone. The trooper observed Thompson abruptly cut across four lanes of traffic to exit the freeway at the Lake Street exit. The trooper began following the SUV but did not initiate the emergency lights or attempt to make a traffic stop because the trooper did not want to cause the driver, later identified as Thompson, 28, to continue to drive recklessly on city streets. At the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and East Lake Street, Thompson sped through a red light at the intersection without stopping or slowing. The SUV struck at full speed the driver’s side of a Honda Civic that was traveling lawfully through the intersection. All five occupants of the Honda Civic, four adult females and one juvenile female, were killed. When law enforcement responded to the scene of the crash, witnesses told officers that Thompson had fled on foot through a nearby alley. Officers found Thompson sitting on the curb outside of a nearby restaurant. Officers detained Thompson, who was later transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for evaluation.

According to court documents, an officer found at the scene a Hertz rental record for the Cadillac SUV indicating that Thompson rented the vehicle from a Hertz located at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport approximately 30 minutes before the crash. After obtaining a warrant to search the SUV, officers found a black leather bag on the front passenger side floor that contained a loaded Glock pistol with an extended magazine, as well as three baggies containing more than 2,000 blue “M-Box 30” fentanyl pills, a baggie containing an additional 14 grams of powder fentanyl, a baggie containing 13 MDMA pills, a baggie containing 35 grams of cocaine, and a digital scale.
Because Thompson has multiple prior felony convictions, he is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition at any time.

The indictment charges Thompson with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm as a felon, and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. He will make his initial appearance in U.S. District Court before a Magistrate Judge at a later date.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI, the Minneapolis Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Minneapolis–St. Paul Airport Police Department, in coordination with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas Calhoun-Lopez and Ruth S. Shnider are prosecuting the case.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Sarah Carda was shot 3 times in the head by her husband Mike Carda. Mike was said to be into drugs and abusive. On Friday October 6, 2023, he took the life of his wife Sarah.

Chisago County Deputies were called to a disturbance at a home on the 42000 block of Elmcrest Avenue in Fish Lake Township around noon. The victim’s mother, was outside the house said that she had heard arguing inside the home, and was worried because there were a large number of weapons inside. She was visibly shaking as she told this to investigators.

As a deputy proceeded towards the home, he could hear yelling, but was not able to hear what the man was saying. He knocked on the glass of a side window, he could hear a woman say, “He has a gun.” The deputy heard three shots. Backing away from the window, the deputy said the suspect fired three more rounds through the same window where the deputy had just been standing, with the bullets exiting “at head-level.”

The Chisago County SWAT team responded to the scene and the sheriff’s office asked the public to avoid the area on Facebook. Crews blocked off roads in the vicinity for several hours. The stand-off was hours long.

Finally, at around 4:20 pm, the sheriff’s office said a man, later identified as Mike Carda, 39 was taken into custody.

A Sarah was found shot to death inside the home.

Carda is in the Chisago County Jail held on 2nd degree murder, along with additional charges of second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. $2million cash bail.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A man who struck and injured a woman in Montecito while fleeing law enforcement has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Derrick John Thompson, 23, pleaded guilty to evading an officer causing injury, leaving the scene of an accident causing permanent injury and conspiracy to possess marijuana for sale – all felonies.

The charges stem from an incident that took place on Sept. 4, 2018 in Montecito. Thompson and two friends were driving in the shoulder of Highway 101. Ventura police officers who were in the area attempted to stop the vehicle, but Thompson refused to stop and continued driving, eventually reaching Butterfly Beach on a busy summer day.

While trying to navigate a turn from Channel Drive onto Butterfly Lane, Thompson’s vehicle hit a 58-year-old North Carolina woman who was staying at a nearby house.

Thompson then fled the scene on foot while the woman remained at the scene, seriously injured. His two passengers, Diamonte Markel Hickerson of Newport, Minnesota, and Justyn Desean Sanders of Maplewood Minnesota, were detained by police.

Officers searched the vehicle and found more than 17 pounds of marijuana and over $20,000 in cash.

Thompson was eventually identified as the suspect and was arrested and extradited from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Meanwhile, the woman that was hit by his vehicle fought for her life while in a coma for several weeks.

Thompson pleaded guilty to charges on Jan. 26 after prosecutors refused to offer a plea deal. On Tuesday, despite prosecutors asking for additional prison time, Thompson was sentenced to eight years in prison.

“This case was a series of dangerous criminal choices that resulted in a horrendous conclusion,” Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley said in a press release. “The victim has made a miraculous recovery but will still live with the injuries inflicted by this defendant for the rest of her life.”

Let me remind you who John Thompson is:

And then there is this:

Remember when Thompson said he was pulled over for ‘driving while black’?

What’s sad is that many local activists supported his lies, that is why the cam was released, to prove what a liar he is. According to me, many activists lost any or all respect they had before speaking out.

Around 4:44 a.m. on 2 December 1987, a motorist was driving on Lake Drive in Columbus, MN, saw a body on the side of the road and called 911. Police arrived on scene to find a naked woman, dead on the side of the road.

She was identified as Armonjean Watson Mason, who at the time of her death was only 40 years old. It was determined the woman had been murdered, with the cause of death being strangulation. Authorities said Armonjean was also struck in the head with a blunt object and had puncture wounds on her chest and ligature marks on her wrists and ankles, consistent with having been bound.

Armonjean was a healthcare provider and often worked two jobs to take care of her 2 children.

In 2012 the Minnesota BCA recently reviewed the evidence and conducted some DNA testing on physical evidence that did not exist in 1987.

In 1988, authorities has five potential persons of interest. However, the leads eventually dried up and no charges were ever filed.

If you have any information on this case, please contact me via the comment form below. I would love to put a picture of Armonjean if anyone has one

From North Metro tv

NEW DNA IN DECADES OLD MURDER

COON RAPIDS, Minn. – A family is pleading for answers, and the sheriff is asking if anyone has any information that could help solve a murder. However, this isn’t a typical case. This murder happened nearly 25 years ago, but authorities say that they believe someone may have the answers to help bring this case to a close.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is putting a renewed attention on what has been a cold case. On a winter morning in 1987, Armonjean Mason’s body was found on the side of the road in Columbus. She was strangled, had been bound, and had puncture wounds on her chest. As the years passed, and the case went cold, her family never lost hope of finding her murderer and finding closure.

“The last 25 year have been horrible for my family,” said Diane Anderson as she described what it felt like not to have any answers about her sister’s death.

Exactly what happened to her sister is yet to be known. What they do know is that Armonjean was found strangled and nude on a roadway many miles away from her Minneapolis home.

In 1987, when the case was new, the Sheriff’s Office had no official suspects, but they had five persons of interest who were somehow involved in Armonjean’s life. Each of the people claimed alibis, and denied any involvement in her murder. As the years passed, the a case never developed, and a suspect was never named.

Then as technology changed, and created more options for law enforcement, they were able to do more tests. In 2010, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension tested the evidence in the case, and they were able to extract a Y chromosome DNA sample for under a fingernail. This DNA sample was very small, and not able to point to any one person as the murderer. But, they were able to find all five persons of interest, collect their DNA, and look for comparisons. When they did that, it was clear that the DNA was definitely not a match for four of the five persons of interest.

One person of interest remained. Harry Mason, Armonjean’s estranged husband, had DNA that was “a suitable comparison,” according to Commander Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Department [now retired].

Mason remains a person of interest, but is not a suspect. Authorities are asking for people who knew him to try remember anything out of the ordinary. Mason has been convicted of murder and armed robbery in the past, Sommer said. While in prison work camp on the robbery conviction in 1965, he was involved in the stabbing deaths of two other inmates. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, according to past Pioneer Press articles.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who knows anything about the murder of Armonjean Mason to come forward and share what they know to help bring this case to a close. The sheriff’s office can be reached at 763-323-5000.

Mary Kathleen Schlais, 25 was an artist and honors grad from the University of Minnesota when she was murdered on 15 February 1974. Mary had planned on going to an art show in Chicago, but she never made it.

Mary was found just outside of Eau Claire Wisconsin in 1974. She was hitchhiking from Minneapolis to Chicago the day after Valentine’s Day. Her body was found several hours later in a snow bank off a rural road 90 miles away in Dunn County, Wisconsin. According to the medical examiner’s report, Mary had been stabbed more than a dozen times.

A witness called the police to say he saw a man drop off her body and then take off. Her purse and coat were never found. The former Dunn County sheriff says a witness saw a man take her body out of a trunk and drag it to the side of the road on 408th Avenue. That’s near Elk Lake about 4 miles west of Eau Claire.

Seems the case kept running dry.

Mary’s body was exhumed in 2009. Two DNA profiles were retrieved from Mary. They could not rule out Randall Woodfield. Never heard of Randall Woodfield? He was an NFL pick for the Greenbay Packers. He was drafted in 1974 and let go pre-season. He stayed in Wisconsin and was picked up by the semi-pro Manitowoc Chiefs, but he was let go at the end of the season. Still nothing? Have you heard of the California I-5 killer? The I-5 killer went prowling from northern California to northern Washington. Woodfield has been linked to at least 44 murders and 60 rapes in an 8-month spree from 1980-81. He went to trial for the murder and rape of Shari Hull and the attempted murder and rape of Beth Wilmot in Oregon. He shot both in the back of the head, and Beth survived. He was found guilty.

Abdulhakim Omar Erbob plead guilty of attempted first-degree attempted robbery. He agreed to plead guilty and now claims he didn’t know that it would result in deportation. Erbob is sentenced to 45 months. He will do about 2 1/2 years!

According to the criminal complaint, at about 6:40 pm on 26 February 2021, St. Paul police responded to 111 East Kellogg Blvd. of a report of a carjacking.

When police arrived, they reported that the victim appeared frightened. He identified Erbob in the passenger seat as the one who hit him and tried to steal his car. Police said Erbob smelled of alcohol.

The victim told officers that he went to that address to pick up his friend. Erbob forced his way into his vehicle and demanded a ride. When he refused, Erbob began to punch him in the face and tried to push him out of the vehicle, according to the complaint.

“I just want to say at the time of the offense, I was under the influence and not aware,” Erbob told the judge. “I’m not a citizen. I do not want to get deported. I have no family back home. I’ve been here since I was about 2 years old.”

Erbob has a lengthy criminal record, which includes convictions for robbery, giving police a false name, thefts, trespassing and in 2013, a conviction for first-degree aggravated robbery for which he was sentenced to 57 months in prison.

From St. Louis Park police:

Update: Suspects charged following arrests for carjacking, vehicle thefts and robberies in St. Louis Park

Post Date:January 19, 2022 6:38 p.m.

Update: On Jan. 21, 2022, the two suspects referenced below were charged in Hennepin County District Court. Both were charged with multiple felony crimes and bail was set at $250,000 each. Read the complaints for Kashwan Jason Wertman and for Nautica Alaja Argue.

On Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at around 1:15 p.m., St. Louis Park police officers responded to the 2700 block of Louisiana Court South in St. Louis Park on report of a robbery. Suspects threatened to shoot an adult female driver, then took her car keys. The suspects left in both the victim’s vehicle and a second vehicle which was determined to be one stolen in St. Louis Park earlier in the week.

The St. Louis Park Police Department, in collaboration with more than 12 local, county and state agencies, determined that the suspects in this case were KASHWAN JASON WERTMAN (9-8-03) and NAUTICA ALAJA ARGUE (10-28-02), both St. Paul residents. Further investigation led investigators to determine that Wertman and Argue were suspects in many other incidents, including eight in St. Louis Park. Incidents include:

One 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery – St. Louis Park
Six 2nd Degree Aggravated Robberies – St. Louis Park, White Bear Lake, Roseville, Richfield, Brooklyn Center and Woodbury
13 Simple Robberies – St. Louis Park (6), Columbia Heights (2), Plymouth, Roseville, Edina and Ramsey County
One Attempted Simple Robbery – Eagan
One Motor Vehicle Theft – St. Louis Park
One Flee Police in Motor Vehicle – Ramsey County

On Jan. 18, St. Louis Park Investigators issued a probable cause arrest notice to area law enforcement agencies and provided information that Wertman and Argue were believed to be driving a silver Audi TT, taken Jan. 16, in a robbery from an adult female victim in the 5500 block of Cedar Lake Road in St. Louis Park.

At approximately 6:18 p.m. Jan. 18, the stolen Audi was located and fled from law enforcement officers. St. Louis Park officers were not involved in the subsequent pursuit that proceeded through numerous cities. The vehicle eventually stopped and its occupants, Wertman and Argue, were arrested in St. Paul in the 1700 block of Maryland Avenue East. The suspects were found to be in possession of evidence connected to the other incidents above. Both suspects remain in custody in the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center in Minneapolis and have been questioned by St. Louis Park police investigators.

Wertman was charged in an April 11, 2021, aggravated robbery involving use of a firearm occurring in St. Louis Park. At the time of last night’s arrest, Wertman had multiple active arrest warrants, including one stemming from that incident. Five others included 2nd Degree Assault, Motor Vehicle Theft, Domestic Assault and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.

The case file described above, and related cases covering crimes attributable to Wertman and Argue, are being submitted to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for charging. Other charges will be submitted to the Ramsey and Washington county attorney’s offices.

Other ongoing investigations in St. Louis Park and other jurisdictions with connections to Wertman and Argue will result in charging submissions in the future.

Special thanks to Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office investigators and analysts and to officers and deputies from the Minneapolis Police Department, St. Paul Police Department and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating the suspects and stolen vehicles involved.

The St. Louis Park Police Department will continue to investigate additional related incidents in the coming days. Anyone with additional information on any related cases should call the St. Louis Park Police at 952.924.2600.

The law enforcement efforts that led to the arrests of Wertman and Argue are a successful first step in confronting those responsible for the violence that has impacted so many victims directly. It is also a critical step toward combating the increase in violent crime that has plagued so many communities of late. Law enforcement’s continuing partnerships with one another, and our vigilance in taking on this violent crime, is a responsibility taken seriously by our agencies and is a reflection of our commitment to those in our communities that we serve and have sworn to keep safe.

From Sheriff Fletcher:

Thank you to the many agencies that assisted the Ramsey County Carjacking & Auto Theft “CAT” Unit in arresting two parties wanted for 5 carjackings and three other robberies over the past 10 days in St. Louis Park. The one hour pursuit was a total team effort with help from the Minnesota State Patrol, Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriffs Office, Roseville Police Department, St. Paul Police Department, Washington County Sheriffs Office, Dakota County Sheriffs Office and others. A special thank you to the staff monitoring the state highway cameras. You were our “most valuable player” last night. At the speed the suspects were traveling we would never have apprehended them without your outstanding work.

[Hennepin county da, and ag Ellison have allowed this to go on and they are weak at prosecuting thugs]

From Hennepin County Attorneys office:
Wertman, Argue charged in connection to numerous carjacking-related offenses

Two individuals involved in more than 20 carjacking-related offenses across Hennepin County, and neighboring cities, have been charged. This comes following a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement effort that apprehend the two suspects, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday.

Kashawn Wertman, 18, of St. Paul, and 19-year-old Nautica Argue, of St. Paul, are facing a combined 31 counts for their involvement in numerous cross-county carjacking-related offenses that occurred between Jan. 7 – Jan. 17. These charges range from aggravated robbery to theft from a person.

Presently, Wertman has been charged with 17 counts, while Argue faces 14 counts. While the investigation is on-going, it is anticipated that additional charges will be filed.

First appearances for Wertman and Argue have been scheduled for Jan. 21 at 2:30 p.m.

“The excellent police work by the numerous law enforcement agencies in the greater Twin Cities area has resulted in the apprehension of two dangerous people, who had terrorized countless community members,” Freeman stated.

“Our office will now do our part as the charging agency in the criminal justice system, and prosecute these defendants to the fullest extent of the law.”

According to the criminal complaint, between Jan. 7 – Jan. 17, Wertman and Argue were involved in nearly 25 carjacking-related offenses which occurred in St. Louis Park, Plymouth, Richfield, Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, Edina, White Bear Lake, Roseville, Columbia Heights, Lakeville, Eagan, Little Canada, Burnsville, Woodbury, and Saint Paul.

A total of 10 vehicles were stolen violently from victims that were used to commit these offenses.

On Jan. 18, Ramsey County Sheriff’s deputies went to the 1700 block of Maryland Avenue in St. Paul in search of Wertman. Officers later encountered the stolen Audi TT being driven by Wertman with Argue in the passenger seat.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Wertman began to speed off. He eventually drove into the Cedar Riverside neighborhood and then back to the 1700 block of Maryland Avenue in St. Paul where additional police were waiting, the complaint states.

Both Wertman and Argue admitted to certain offenses when speaking with law enforcement following their arrests.

Upon Wertman’s arrest, Wertman told police that they should be “out arresting murderers, not people who steal cars.”

Bail has been set for Argue at $250K without conditions, $150K with conditions.

At the request of the defense, the bail argument for Wertman has been reserved.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, January 14, 2022

Rochester Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Arson of Minneapolis Pawn Shop that Resulted in the Death of a Man

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A Rochester man was sentenced to 120 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for the arson of a Minneapolis pawn shop that resulted in the death of a man. Acting U.S. Attorney Charles J. Kovats made the announcement after U.S. District Judge Wilhelmina M. Wright sentenced the defendant.

According to court documents, on May 28, 2020, Montez Terriel Lee, 26, along with others, broke into the Max It Pawn Shop on East Lake Street in Minneapolis. Surveillance video footage showed Lee pouring a fire accelerant around the pawn shop and lighting the accelerant on fire. The fire destroyed the building. A second video showed Lee standing in front of the burning pawn shop and Lee could be heard saying, “[expletive] this place. We’re gonna burn this [expletive] down.”

According to court documents, on July 20, 2020, authorities located the body of a 30 year old man, O.S., in the rubble of the burned Max It Pawn building. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office attributed O.S.’s death to “probable inhalation of products of combustion and thermal injury (building fire).”

This case was the result of an investigation conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the FBI, the Minneapolis Police Department, the Rochester Police Department, and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Calhoun-Lopez.

St. Paul Man Sentenced to 100 Months in Prison for Arson and Riot During August 2020 Riots in Downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – A St. Paul man was sentenced to 100 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release for burning, looting, and damaging stores and businesses in downtown Minneapolis on August 26, 2020. Acting U.S. Attorney Charles J. Kovats made the announcement after U.S. District Judge Patrick J. Schiltz sentenced the defendant.

According to the evidence presented at trial, on the evening of August 26, 2020, Victor Devon Edwards, 32, drove to downtown Minneapolis following a city-wide curfew to join a large crowd that had gathered following false rumors regarding police involvement in the death of a man on Nicollet Mall earlier that evening. Over the course of approximately three hours, Edwards engaged in acts of riot, arson, and other property damage and destruction in downtown Minneapolis. Edwards was captured on video surveillance participating in the rioting and looting at Saks Off Fifth and entering other closed stores and businesses that evening, including Caribou Coffee, Target Headquarters, and Brit’s Pub on Nicollet Mall. Edwards was captured on video surveillance helping to break into the Target Headquarters building and adding fuel to a fire set inside the building, which ultimately caused almost a million dollars in damages to Target. Edwards was then captured on video surveillance entering the nearby Brit’s Pub, which, shortly after he went in, became engulfed in flames.

During and after his criminal activity downtown that evening, Edwards bragged about his participation in the rioting and looting. Edwards also took orders from friends for items to loot. The next morning, Edwards took a video of himself flashing a large amount of cash and saying, “On the looting side. . .” He also admitted that he got “MK purses and money” in text messages with his friends.

On August 12, 2021, Edwards was convicted by a federal jury of one count of riot and one count of arson.

This case is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the FBI, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the Minneapolis Fire Department, and the Minneapolis, Bloomington, and Richfield Police Departments.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nathan H. Nelson and Chelsea A. Walcker.

Edwards crime buddies plead guilty in January 2021. SHADOR TOMMIE CORTEZ JACKSON, sentenced to 33 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release; and LEROY LEMONTE PERRY WILLIAMS, sentence is unknown.

Making their parents proud! I hope these brats are charged as adults! According to the Hennepin County Attorney office, they are ramping up prosecution on carjackings.
From the Hennepin County Attorney office:

Three juveniles have been charged in connection to two carjackings in Edina and St. Louis Park, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday.

Kanye Hardiman, 16, of Minneapolis, and 17-year-old Vance Chatman from Minneapolis, each face five counts of first-degree aggravated robbery charges for their involvement in separate, but related carjackings in Edina and St. Louis Park on Dec. 9.

Cayden Whitmore, 16, of Minneapolis, has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated robbery for his participation in the St. Louis Park incident.

Hardiman and Whitmore made their first appearances Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m. and they were ordered detained until their next appearances. The State has filed presumptive certifications motions on both juveniles, requesting that these respondents be certified to stand trial as adults.

According to the juvenile petitions, on Dec. 9 around 3:15 p.m., St. Louis Park police went to a grocery store upon learning of a robbery. When they arrived, an adult male victim informed officers that he was in his SUV in the parking lot when Chatman and Hardiman went to the vehicle and attempted to pull him out.

The male victim also stated that Chatman and Hardiman repeatedly punched him, while threatening him with a drill, pretending it was a gun. As a result of the attack, the male victim suffered multiple injuries. A witness also told police that either Hardiman or Chatman struck the male victim with the drill.

A second male victim in the grocery store parking lot walked over when he saw the commotion, asking Hardiman and Chatman to calm down. Hardiman then began to fight with the man, and did so until he and Chatman fled the scene in an awaiting, stolen SUV driven by Whitmore, the petition says.

About an hour and a half later, just before 5:00 p.m., the white SUV next went to an Edina grocery store. There, the SUV pulled into a parking spot next to an adult female victim who was sitting inside her vehicle. Hardiman and Chatman proceeded to enter the female victim’s passenger’s side doors—one in the front and the back, the petition says.

Hardiman and Chatman began to punch the female victim, while also attempting to push her out of the driver’s side door while her seat belt was still buckled.

As this occurred, the female victim was honking the horn, alerting other people in the parking lot. Two individuals tried to pull Chatman from the driver’s seat in an attempt to help the female victim. During the scuffle, one of the men was bitten by Hardiman, the petition states.

During the fighting, Chatman eventually put the female victim’s vehicle in reverse as he tried to flee the scene. In doing so, he struck another male victim in the head with the driver’s side door as he accelerated backwards, and ran over the male victim’s legs, the petition furthers.

The female victim was still entangled by her seat belt and was dragged through the parking lot as her vehicle was being driven by Chatman. She sustained significant cuts and scrapes as a result to her right shoulder, the petition says.

A witness, who has a permit to carry a firearm, intervened and pulled out a gun in an effort to stop the violence. Both Hardiman and Chatman jumped out of the vehicle and ran from the grocery store parking lot, the petition states.

Surveillance footage obtained from both St. Louis Park and Edina, in addition to witness accounts and tips from the public based on photos, helped identify the three juveniles involved. The SUV driven by Whitmore was found a block from Chatman’s home. It was towed and processed for evidence, the petition says.

A search warrant was executed at Hardiman’s home, at which time Hardiman and Whitmore were arrested. Clothing found on site matched what Hardiman was wearing during the St. Louis Park and Edina incidents.

Asa Huff-Jones, 17, of Brooklyn Park, and 18-year-old Rayevan Smith, of Minneapolis, each pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree aggravated robbery.

Smith also has a fraud charge, I’m assuming the asinine D.A. dropped that charge.

Minneapolis needs to get it together. If these kids can do the crime, they need to do the time! Enough of the righteous crap! Believe me, I don’t believe Minneapolis has seen the worst of it yet!

Not even 19 years old and these kids are 4 time felons! Good job!

From the Hennepin County Attorneys office:

Two juveniles, both certified to stand trial as adults, pleaded guilty on Dec. 15 to charges relating to carjacking incidents, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday.

Asa Huff-Jones, 17, of Brooklyn Park, and 18-year-old Rayevan Smith, of Minneapolis, each pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree aggravated robbery. Neither Huff-Jones nor Smith were involved in the same offenses.

Huff-Jones was certified to stand trial as an adult on Nov. 16. As part of his plea agreement, Huff-Jones was sentenced on the following charges on Dec. 15:

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-21-21303 – 86 months in prison.

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-21-21318 – 58 months in prison.

First-degree aggravated robbery 27-CR-21-21302 – 78 months in prison.

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-21-21304 – 48 months in prison.

These sentences will be served concurrently for a total of 86 months in prison.

As for Smith, he was certified as an adult on Dec. 1st. As part of his plea agreement, Smith pleaded guilty to the following charges, and is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 3:

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-21-22155 – 93 months in prison.

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-22163 – 58 months in prison.

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-22164 – 78 months in prison.

First-degree aggravated robbery: 27-CR-22165 – 48 months in prison.

These anticipated sentences are expected to be served concurrently for a total of 93 months in prison.

“Our office is committed to prosecuting carjacking cases submitted to us to the fullest extent of the law,” Freeman stated. “We take these matters seriously, and are doing everything in our power to ensure those who commit violent felony offenses are punished for their infractions.”

At the time of their respective offenses, Huff-Jones was 16-years-old and Smith was 17-years-old.
