Michael Harlan of Bloomington, was found guilty last week for the murder of Cole Linnell. Cole bought some oxycodone pills from Harlan, but they were fentanyl pills made to look like oxycodone. Cole took one the next day and died. Cole became addicted to pain pills from an injury he sustained years earlier.
Harlan was found guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree assault in connection to a drug overdose death involving fentanyl in March 2021.
Harlan failed to appear and a warrant was issued and his cash or surety bond was forfeited.
Jean Thurmer, Cole’s mom was about to see the man who killed her son get sentenced for his murder, but Harlan left to use the restroom and never returned.
Cole’s mom called for a welfare check and police found him deceased at his kitchen table.

Harlan was charged in June 2021 for controlled substance crime in the 1st Degree Possession Cocaine/Meth 50 or More Grams sales. He was sentenced to probation.
