Michael Hari who now identifies as Emily, lost an appeal in the Federal courts.  If you don’t remember, here is a clip from the Dar al-Farooq (DAF) Islamic Center in Bloomington from 2017.

Three men were arrested in this case:

Michael McWhorter, 33, and Joe Morris, 26, both of Clarence, Illinois, were sentenced to 190 months and 170 months in prison, respectively, for firearms violations, arson, use of a destructive device, and federal civil rights violations in connection with the 2017 bombing of Dar al-Farooq (DAF) Islamic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota. McWhorter and Morris each pleaded guilty and testified for the prosecution.

From Illinois of the arrests:

Hari who was sentenced to 53 years in prison appealed the verdict. Hari’s attorneys argued that the key federal law involved — which pertains to damaging religious property and the free exercise of religion — was invalid because it exceeded Congress’ authority. The attorneys claimed that prosecutors violated attorney-client privilege when authorities seized two pages of notes from Hari’s cell during a shakedown.

A federal jury convicted Hari in December 2020 of damaging religious property, obstructing the free exercise of religious beliefs, conspiracy to commit felonies by means of explosives, using a destructive device during a crime of violence and possession of an unregistered destructive device.
