The shooter, Robin Westman, 23 a transgender was born Robert Westman is deceased! Westman acted alone and found dead at the scene of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Westman was armed with a shotgun, a rifle and a pistol and shot from the outside of the church through its windows.

Vanessa was shot three times, one in each arm and one in her chest while she was watching street takeovers at North Second street and North 22nd Avenue, Minneapolis. Vanessa and her cousins were in the front row watching street racing, burnouts and donuts by “Hot Rodders”.  A shooting broke out, and if you watch any videos online, a shooting always seems to breakout.  Vanessa and her cousins thought it was fireworks then realized it was gun shots.  They ran back to their vehicle and that’s when she told her cousins she was shot.  They rushed her to the hospital where she passed away.

At 1:48 am, Minneapolis Police responded to the area of East Lake Street under the bridge that goes over Hiawatha on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers performed CPR and wound management until his care was turned over to paramedics. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in grave condition by paramedics. Officers learned that the victim died a short time after arriving at the hospital.

Homicide investigators arrived at the scene and assisted patrol officers in the speaking with people. Detectives learned that a group of people in cars took over the portion of the East Lake Street where Hiawatha passes over it. The people in the cars were driving recklessly and spinning around in their cars causing damage to the roadway when two of the individuals got into a dispute. The two began to shoot at one another. A stray bullet struck an adult male who had pulled over to watch these vehicles. The victim was outside of his car when he was struck by the bullet.

Crime Lab personnel responded to document the scene and collect evidence.

The Medical Examiner will provide the identity of the victims along with the nature and cause of death in each of these cases.

Dpree Robinson, 19, was charged with a single count of intentional second-degree murder for the shooting that killed the Trinity in North Minneapolis in mid-May 2021. Robinson was arrested on 23 February 2022.

Robinson 20, plead guilty in court to second-degree murder. He was charged with first-degree murder.

Dpree Shareef Robinson was sentenced today to 450 months [37.5 years] in prison for the intentional shooting death of Trinity Ottoson-Smith, a 9-year-old who had been jumping on a trampoline with friends. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty released the following statement:

“No family should be forced to endure all that Trinity’s family has these past two years. After losing Trinity in a devastating, senseless act of gun violence, they have faced multiple delays getting legal closure on the criminal case against the person responsible for this tragedy. I hope today’s sentencing helps them move forward focused on the positive memories they have of her too-short life.

“Trinity’s murder was no accident. Mr. Robinson was intent on killing that sunny, spring day and that is what he did. We cannot allow the killing to continue, we all must do more to end the violence. Our office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of violent crime but simply waiting for more victims and prosecuting criminal cases is not enough. We are also committed to working with the community and at all levels to help get guns off the street and protect those not yet harmed.”

Robinson had a beef with someone in the hood when he went and shot it up on 15 May 2021. He knew kids were in the backyard and still shot.

Robinson’s drive-by shooting was captured on surveillance video. The suspect vehicle’s model and license plate  were seen on the video. Three men on the porch were the intended targets.   The video shows one of the men chasing the suspect vehicle on foot and appearing to return fire three times. The gun was later recovered during the arrest of one of the men present at the shooting.  The car has never been found. It is said that Robinson purchased the vehicle 3 days prior to the shooting.

Robinson’s sentencing is 21 March 2023!

Dpree Shareef Robinson pleads guilty in murder of 9-year-old jumping on trampoline

Dpree Shareef Robinson pled guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trinity Ottoson-Smith, a 9-year-old who had been jumping on a trampoline with friends, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced today. Robinson will receive a 450-month prison sentence when he is sentenced March 21.

“Trinity was doing what kids should be doing in spring time in Minnesota, playing with friends and having fun outside,” Moriarty said. “Mr. Robinson’s actions shocked our community and devastated her family and all who loved her. I’m hopeful his admission of guilt begins to bring some degree of closure for Trinity’s family and the community.”

According to the criminal complaint, this was a gang-related drive-by shooting that was captured from a distance on surveillance video. Trinity was jumping on a trampoline in a residential backyard and was struck and killed by the gunfire. The trampoline, Trinity, and her friends were directly between Mr. Robinson and the intended targets.

Deleon Davis, 28 died at North Memorial Health Hospital on 1 January 2023 at 08:55 of multiple gun shots.  According to reports he was shot around 03:47 at an after party at the 4400 block of Lyndale Avenue N.

Police approached the building and cleared everyone out.  They found evidence of a shooting in that location including 3 guns. Police said a verbal altercation and ended in shoots fired.

A 40 year old man was also hit by a bullet, went to North Memorial Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injury.  Police believe he was a by-stander at the Lyndale shooting.

A shooting early this morning has resulted in homicide number 1 for the city of Minneapolis.

An male in his 20s was found in a vehicle at 42nd and Lyndale Ave N. He died of his injuries.

A second male later showed up at the hospital with GSW injuries.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – A young child is in the hospital following a shooting in Minneapolis overnight, the third child injured by gunfire in the city since April 30.

The shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Monday on the 3500 block of Penn Avenue North.

The girl was shot when the vehicle she was riding in was struck by gunfire. The driver drove her directly to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Family members identified her as six-year-old Aniya Allen, who is also the granddaughter of longtime community activist KG Wilson.

“You shot the wrong baby this time,” said Wilson. “No jokes aside, none of that. Old KG not talking the same no more. I’m not talking that no more. We’re coming for you. I’m speaking directly to you.”

“My baby fighting for her life right now, they telling me she might not make it,” said Antrice Sease, Aniya’s mother.

Aniya now lies in a hospital bed with a bullet lodged in her head. Sease said they had been coming home after a day at the lake and Aniya was eating McDonald’s in the backseat when guns started firing and she was hit.

“We got shot at for no reason. We’re not gang-affiliated. We don’t bother nobody. We’re very family-oriented,” said Sease.

A man was also injured by gunfire in the same incident, and he was taken to North Memorial Medical Center by private vehicle. Both victims remain in critical condition.

With all the sadness and pain, also comes anger. People who gathered Tuesday afternoon asked where the protesters were and why doesn’t the whole community gather for now three young children shot in the head in about two weeks.

“All lives matter, ain’t no Black lives matter,” said Sease. “Stop being so angry and hateful. Love one another. That’s what He put us on the Earth for, not to hate each other.”

“We don’t want our kids in prison. We don’t want out kids in cemeteries and in ICU units fighting for their lives,” said Lisa Clemons of the community group A Mother Love.

The shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Aniya is the third child wounded in recent shootings in Minneapolis. On Monday, Mayor Jacob Frey and Police Chief Medaria Arradondo announced a new public safety plan to address the violence. The four-point plan includes more money for community-based violence prevention, hiring civilian staff to help investigators internally and adding two more officer recruit classes by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are calling for an end to the gunfire. A prayer vigil was held Monday night at North Memorial Medical Center, where 10-year-old Ladavionne Garret Jr. and 9-year-old Trinity Ottoson-Smith are being treated.

She drove her daughter straight to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

A man was also injured by gunfire in the same incident, and he was taken to North Memorial Medical Center by private vehicle.

Aniya was the third child shot in the head in Minneapolis in recent weeks. The two other victims, 10-year-old Ladavionne Garrett Jr. and 9-year-old Trinity Ottoson-Smith, remain hospitalized.

Wednesday night, a crowd gathered at 36th and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis to honor Aniya’s life while calling for change to ensure another young life isn’t harmed.

“My baby girl is gone right now,” said Aniya’s mother Andrice Sease. “I watched her take her last breath. Okay. She fought so hard. So hard.”

“Right now, you are training our young people to be the future leaders in your positions,” said Aniya’s grandfather and local activist Kay G. Wilson. “That’s why there should be outrage and outcry when something happens to one of our babies.”

As members of the crowd called for change. Mayor Jacob Frey, who is under extreme pressure to act, spoke to the crowd.

“It doesn’t need to be this way,” said Mayor Frey. “We can have peace and safety in our communities. We can push back on this needless and unnecessary gun violence. They don’t have their lives cut short anymore.”

Loved ones remember 6-year-old Aniya Allen during funeral

A 6-year-old girl was remembered by family, friends and an entire community Wednesday.

Aniya Allen was shot while riding in the back of a car and died days later.

On Wednesday, loved ones said their final goodbyes at Shiloh Temple in Minneapolis.

Aniya Allen’s mother said she hopes people will remember all of the positive things her daughter brought to the world.

It was solemn as a horse-drawn carriage carried the 6-year-old to her final resting spot.

Tyshawn Claypool, Aniya’s cousin, said, “She’s always going to shine bright in my heart.”

Now, many are feeling heartache for the loss of a child.

“An angel from above that God blessed us with for a joyful six years,” said Curtina Wilson, Aniya’s aunt. “I’m so sorry this happened to you. The violence needs to stop.”

Her grandfather, K.G. Wilson, who is also a community activist, said, “You only took the body because the spirit is still right here with us.”

Allen is one of three children hit by bullets in recent weeks in the city.

“Enough is enough. This child should not be laying here right now, period,” said Tray Pollard, of We Push for Peace.

At her service, relatives described her as loving, bright and outgoing.

Aaron Chappell, a loved one who read the obituary aloud, said, “She also loved being a helper, even if she couldn’t do it, she wanted to help.”

“Her beautiful smile, I will miss that a lot. She was just a loving little girl. I never had to do any redirection with her. She always listened to me. She was full of life, full of energy, very sweet,” said Angel Patterson, one of Aniya’s teachers at New Horizon Academy in north Minneapolis.

Loved ones released balloons into the air and said, “I love you Aniya,” honoring her memory.

Bishop Richard D. Howell, Jr., of Shiloh Temple International Ministries, said, “Her body being carried around this community is definitely a reminder to us all that we can do a better job in bringing the community together.”

Aniya’s final resting place will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Funeral organizers say the family wanted her to be near lake Bde Maka Ska. They say that’s the last place Allen was playing.
