Press Release – Shooting Investigation

Brooklyn Park, MN (February 23, 2023) –

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 1211 hours, officers of the Brooklyn Park Police Department were dispatched to a shooting in the 5700-blk of Brookdale Dr N.

When officers arrived, they located one adult male victim with several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he remains.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area and began a ground search using a K9. During the ground search, officers received information of a carjacking at gunpoint that had just occurred a short distance away from the initial scene.

The victim in the carjacking was not injured during the incident.

Officers confirmed that the suspect in the shooting was the same suspect in the carjacking. Officers located the carjacked vehicle crashed in a nearby neighborhood and shifted the ground search to that area.  The suspect was not immediately located.

Officers are actively investigating this incident. It is believed that the suspect and the victim knew each other. The motive in the shooting is currently unknown.
