Addison Sioux Perdew, 23 has been charged with second-degree intentional murder and second-degree unintentional murder in the death of her 2 month old son.
On November 10, 2021 at approximately 3:00 in the morning, Minneapolis police responded to an emergency call that a baby was “beat to death” inside an apartment near 9XX 22nd Avenue South within the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival officers located ADDISON SIOUX PERDEW, herein after the “Defendant” in the apartment on her knees, crying, vomiting and claiming she took a whole bottle of pills.
Based on the emergency call received, officers asked where her baby was and the Defendant pointed to the back area of the apartment. Officers observed vomit in several places in the apartment, blinds and blankets strewn about, a broken mirror, a 3/4 drank bottle of Bacardi Rum and Kleenex all over the floor. Officers observed a small leg under a blanket on a bed. Underneath officers located a small baby boy Victim, without clothing, appearing only a couple months old. The Victim had dried blood around his nose and mouth, purple and red bruises across almost his entire head, torso, arms and legs. The Victim was approximately 2 months old, not breathing, cool to the touch and pronounced deceased by officers on scene. The Defendant was identified as the Victim’s mother.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner responded to the scene as well as completing an autopsy. The Victim’s death was ruled a homicide by multiple blunt force injuries. The major injuries were determined as: 33 rib fractures, defused multiple skull fractures, multiple lacerations to the liver, fractured right clavicle, both lungs damaged with hemorrhaging, and brain hemorrhaging.
The Defendant was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) due to her claim of taking a bottle of pills. In a post-Mirandized statement the Defendant stated she didn’t remember beating the Victim but she “was the only one there and must have done it”. The Defendant had obvious bruising in a very dark red color and swelling to her right hand.
Investigators received videos and text messages that were sent by the Defendant to others. In a video sent days before, the Victim is sitting quietly in a car seat and the Defendant can heard stating: “You’re so fucking annoying… go to sleep.. what the fuck are you doing what is your problem? Bro stop. Fucking stop that shit. Take your ass the fuck to sleep”.
In another video the Victim can be seen with a bloody nose and a message above states “you wanna do some??”
In text messages sent by the Defendant, investigators read her statement of “Im bout to kill him”; “im gonna choke him”; “im angry asf n I pop him on the mouth”; and “im gonna slit his throat”. In minutes before officers arrived on November 10, 2021 the Defendant sends a text message “I’m not going to prison n I can’t bring him back to life”.
Perdew was taken into custody. The infant was brought to the Hennepin county medical examiners office for autopsy.
The infant suffered brain hemorrhaging, both of his lungs were damaged and hemorrhaged. The baby also had a fractured clavicle, 33 rib fractures, and various cuts to his liver as well as multiple skull fractures.
Perdew bail is set at $1m.
