Hi Have you guys looked into Jon Dalen the Pastor of the church? He fits the description of the person scene on the day of the murder. Plus it would make sense that a person of the church might be responsible for the 8k donation made by Joseph in the first place. He might have been black mailed.

I was 6 when this happened and we lived a mile from Crow River and Mr. Olson, I remember going to Mr. Olson's house with my dad as a kid to get seed for our farm. My dad would make me wait in the car because Mr. Olson had dogs. It was a very sad and scary time within our little rural area and church. I also remember the rumor that it was over money.

It's also uncanny that Delbert Huber was a suspect, along with Norman Larson, father of Tim Larson, who lost his life to Delbert years later.

I pray that the family can one day have closure.

Hi Kelly,

The whole thing is just sad! To live to 75 years old and murdered in his own home is just outrageous! The poor man.

I wish they would get more information on the truck. I’m wondering if it wasn’t brown and maybe someone would have more information. I wish they would solve it for the families sake!

I bet looking back on going to his estate sale is surreal today!

And you’re right, I don’t think it will ever be solved unless someone confessed on their death bed, which I don’t think will ever happen.

I grew up in the rural farm community where this took place. I was a young boy when Mr. Olson was killed. My school bus route went past both his home, and the church he attended. I don't know if I ever met him or not.

I distinctly remember how his murder rocked our community. The rumor at the time was, he was thought to have cash hidden in his house, and someone had attempted to beat it out of him.

My dad took me to the estate auction that was held on his property, after things had settled. I can remember walking through his house, looking at his things, trying on a pair of his glasses. It was surreal.

I have been following this case since the early 2000s. I still search for developments from time to time, which was how I found this blog. I had never heard of the lawsuit Norman Larson had brought against Kandiyohi County, until reading about it here. That's the first new (to me) piece of information I've seen on the case in the last two decades.

At this point, I don't think Mr. Olson's murder will ever be solved. Our only hope is that someone gives a deathbed confession.

Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
