Glendale AZ police issued an Amber Alert for a 5-year-old girl who went missing on 11 October 2011, and are searching for a woman in a Chevrolet car who was seen in the area.  Jhessye Shockley is Black, approximately 3 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 55 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jean shorts and pink sandals. Her hair was in a ponytail.

Police records show Jhessye’s siblings told investigators in the days after her disappearance that Hunter allegedly abused her and kept the girl in a closet.

According to a court documents from November last year, Jhessye’s 13-year-old sister told police her mother kept the girl in a closet, and that Jhessye had black eyes, cuts and bruises before she was reported missing.

The last time anyone saw Jhessye alive was September 22, which was the last time records show her attending school. Her sisters say they never saw Jhessye the day her mother reported her missing, when Hunter told police the older siblings were watching the girl as she ran errands.

Jhessye’s older sister told the police that her mother kept Jhessye locked in a bedroom closet and that she had cuts and bruises on her face and body. According to a court document filed Tuesday in connection with the arrest of Jerice Hunter, the missing girl’s mother, on child abuse charges, the older sister, who is 13, also told investigators that Jhessye had looked like a “zombie,” had not been seen in the apartment well before she was reported missing and that the closet smelled, prompting the mother to clean it. The police said that they suspected that Jhessye was dead and that Ms. Hunter, who has denied any involvement in her daughter’s disappearance, had played a role in it.

Her trial began on March 2, 2015 and lasted 20 days. On April 27, after four days of deliberations, the jury unanimously found Hunter guilty on both counts and further found that aggravated factors had been proven.  On September 6, 2012, a Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted Jerice Hunter on one count of child abuse and one count of first degree murder.

I guess when the shoe is on the other foot, it’s ok to abuse your child, but when it’s you who is in the spotlight it’s a different story!

Police will not search the landfill they had preserved to search for Jhessye!  They feel it is no longer necessary to search the landfill.  I would assume at this point they are gathering MORE information to arrest mommy dearest on murder charges, and just a matter of time.

According to Fox Phoenix, who looked into the CPS report of Hunter from April a person says that the mother ‘smokes pot’ and this person has concerns with Hunter’s ‘anger management’ and feared the monster would take her frustration out on her children.  I am a little surprised that after getting out of jail in California, they didn’t demand her to go to anger management classes, especially since children were involved.  Hunter got the kids back after she was let out because there were no arrangements made for the children.  If I remember correctly,  I posted on 22 October 2011 that this child abuser needed anger management classes.  Jhessye Shockley update. The post also says that ‘Hightower has contacted CPS several times to report her suspicions that Jhessye and her older sister were being abused.’  Jhessye who was raised by her cousins, HAD to give Jhessye back to the abuser, they didn’t have a choice in the matter.  Hunter’s mother also turned over the children she had to Hunter.

Seems to me that when Hunter was let loose after half sentence in prison, she needed to do the full 8 year.

28 November 2011:  Jhessye Shockley’s mother has been released from jail.  According to police, the charges on child abuse will not be filed at  this time. They are waiting on results from some additional investigation before charging her.  They had 48 hours from the time the suspect’s initial appearance in court to charge her.

Police will still be searching to find Jhessye and Hunter is NOT ruled out and is still at the top of the list! [Thanks DJR]

According to the facebook page he says:  ‘A mother is accused of killing her baby girl and her bond is a measly one hundred thousand dollars the sad part is we know she has the money and the property and some idiot is going to write this bond.’

Friends of Hunter approached the bails bondman with 10% of the bond to get Hunter out, but Wirtjes believe the bond is too low and thinks that the judicial system has failed.  Hunter is only charged with child abuse ‘RELATED’ to Jhessye’s disappearance.

This case is just one of the nuttiest!  The father of Hunter keeps saying he didn’t raise a monster, but with her past history of charges and conviction of cruel and inhuman corporal punishment and injury to her children, he sure did raise a monster.  And from what I read in the document released, she is a monster and now it is too late for Jhessye.  Rest In Peace Jhessye!

21 November 2011:  Once again the mother of Jhessye is in police custody for child abuse, this time she is arrested for abuse directly related to the disappearance of Jhessye.    Police searched the apartment and had k-9 there.  They have received information over the past few days!  Police Press Conference

WAIT! Isn’t she the one who has said numerous times she LOVES her children and would never do anything to hurt them?  I think her words were, ‘Do I look like someone who would hurt my children‘  If I remember correctly, she is also the one who was not happy with how the police were handling this case.  Boy how the wheels turn.  The mother has NOT been cooperating with police to have that polygraph, either!

Family members are hoping to find Jhessye, even thought it has been a long time since she was last seen!

Police also do NOT believe they will find Jhessye alive.

The mother says she will be taking a polygraph, but as of Friday that has not happened.

Again a mother who is doing who knows what, with who knows who does alot of the blaming and talking, while we have not heard that she is out searching at all. She insists she is a good mother, even though she has spent time in jail for child abuse and beating her children with an electrical cord.

Now that she has given birth to her last child, Law Enforcement [LE] will be giving her a polygraph. She says she wanted to give one early on, but LE said they will wait until she gives birth.

The mother says that she has been treated like a suspect by Law Enforcement, even though LE has stated she is not one. She has also stated that LE isn’t doing enough to find her daughter, but we can tell this mother isn’t doing much either.

The mother said in her interview that if she could take back 11 October 2011, she would have never walked out that door, she would have never run the errand. It’s not that she shouldn’t have run her errand, she could have taken her kids with her, just sayin! Video of the interview
